Things I've learned recently

1. Even numbered highways go east-west, while the odd ones go north-south.

2. This is a real animal ... (I looked it up after one of your Silly Saturdays, NCS!)

3. There's a little place to hang your gas cap, rather than just letting it dangle.

4. There's a finger hole in the Saran Wrap box that keeps the roll from coming out.

5. There's an arrow on a car's gas gauge that tells you which side the tank is on.

Do you have some strange, obscure or unknown factoid? Comment! I want to know. (But don't give me any crap about how you can't believe I didn't know the stuff above. I can't be on top of everything, people!)

-- The B.S. Cafe is currently serving a thirst for knowledge.

P.S. What's Scarlett sitting on today? A mini cash register.

I'd be hard pushed to find anything as interesting as yours. Especially the petrol indicator one - I never realised about the arrow. Whoever invented that must be really disappointed that no-one knows about it. It'll come in handy next time I'm driving a hire car.

Useful fact: Egyptian heiroglyphics were written both left-to-right and right-to-left. To tell which way it's going you look at the faces of the people and animals - they always face the beginning of the line.

I always thought it was chicken pops and not chicken pox. Yeah, I'm sad for me too. And thanks for the gas things. I didn't know!

If a statue in the park of a person on a horse has both front legs in the air, the person died in battle. If the horse has one front leg in the air the person died as a result of wounds received in battle. If the horse has all four legs on the ground, the person died of natural causes.

Ok, first of all, I KNOW I know useless information, but can't think of a thing right now. So I reserve the right to come back and add later.

Also? I am the dork that went out to, not only my car, but my husband's truck to check the gastank arrow thing.

That is badass. My husband better never ask me again what side my tank is on.

I'm glad no one else knew about the gas tank indictator. It's nice that my blog can add value to your lives. :)

Ok, so I learned something new again today ... just looking for muffin recipes ...

If using a dark colored pan, reduce the oven temperature, stated in the recipe, by 25 degrees. (This is because dark colored pans absorb more of the energy coming from the oven walls so they become hotter and transmit heat faster than light colored pans.)

You're welcome. ;)

I always thought that Axolotls looked photoshoped.

"There's a little place to hang your gas cap, rather than just letting it dangle." WHAT?

LOVE the arrow for gas. Confirmed it in my own car... I love it!

Here's one... all radio station call letters to the west of the Mississippi begin with a K, all call letters to the east of the Mississippi begin with a W. Or so I have been told.

Very cool about the gas tank thing, I'll never have to rearrange a rental car again. Okay, I probably will, but at least I shouldn't have to.

Well... I knew about the gas tank arrow thingie... but I never seem to remember it when I need it!

what about the cars that have the tank in the back by the bumper? do they have an arrow?

Is your car from like 1960, Dan? I think after a few Pintos exploded they moved gas tanks to the sides of cars.
